In the heart of the Cerdanya valley, 6 km from the capital, Puigcerdà, in the village of Urtx, in the municipality of Fontanals de Cerdanya, we find Cal Mateu, rural accommodation that sleeps up to 14 people.
This former farmhouse has been totally refurbished, maintaining the layout of the original building. The two-storey home has six bedrooms with views of the Cerdanya valley. All the rooms are equipped with television and private bathroom, and sleep between one and four people.
On the ground floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee-maker, gas stove and fridge, and a living-dining room with fireplace, with its original tiled floor.
Surrounding the house there is a large garden where guests can enjoy Cal Mateu’s rural setting with its cows, chickens, rabbits and other farm animals, experiencing life on a country farm in the Catalan high mountain.
Set in a peaceful location, Cal Mateu is ideal for those who enjoy the mountains and skiing, as it is very close to the Cadí mountain range and the Tosa d’Alp mountain, and just nine kilometres from the ski slopes at La Molina and Masella, as well as being only 1 km from the Fontanals golf course.
Also nearby is the town of Meranges, the starting point for a trail leading to Malniu lake, a spectacular and easily accessible natural area that we recommend visiting particularly in summer.
